Your ancestors came from France to North America: maybe to Quebec, Canada – maybe to Louisiana, USA – maybe they settled somewhere else. Perhaps you have already begun to study your genealogy – to build your family tree. Now you want to know more about your French roots. We are here to help you climb your family tree in France.

Kathryn Larcher is perfectly bilingual French-English, born and brought up in America, having lived in France for the past 25 years in an 18th century townhouse having belonged to the family for nearly a hundred years. She has practiced family genealogy for several years in America and in France and will be glad to share her competence and expertise in the field of French genealogy.

“French Roots” can help you find documentation concerning the origins of your French ancestors: birth- marriage- or death- certificates, census reports and also wills and information about the traditional family home or village of your ancestors. We can research for you or help you find the information yourself if you have hit a brick wall. We can transcribe ancient documents in French medieval handwriting and translate them for you into English.

Maybe you’ll find nobility and a family crest. Maybe not. Each family history is worth telling. I can’t wait to learn more about yours. Let’s start digging for your roots!
